Play today's puzzle →How it works
Each day there is one small city map, with stations, busy hubs, rivers, lakes and parks. You have a few metro lines, each with a start, an end and a budget of track. Draw every line from its start to its end through the stops you choose. Every stop on a finished line picks up its passengers, and a busy hub served by several lines counts for each of them. Lines can share hubs, bridge over water and bend around parks, but the budgets are tight: the puzzle is finding the network that picks up the most riders.
Every daily map has a proven best score, worked out by an exact solver, so there is always a perfect answer to find. When you submit, you see how your network compares with everyone else's.
A new puzzle every day
The daily changes at midnight Eastern Time, for everyone at once. The week gets harder as it goes, like a newspaper crossword:
| Monday, Tuesday | Easy |
| Wednesday, Thursday | Medium |
| Friday | Hard: five tangled lines |
| Saturday | A large map |
| Sunday | Bonus: mountains to tunnel through, and ferries |
Past puzzles stay in the archive, so you can play the ones you missed.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. There's no account, no download and no ads. It runs in any browser, on a phone or a computer.
Is it Metro Maneuver or Metro Manoeuvre?
Both: "maneuver" is the American spelling and "manoeuvre" the British one, and it's the same game. (It's often typed "Metro Manuever" too; that finds it here as well.) The address is metromaneuver.com.
Is it like Mini Metro?
It's a different kind of game: Mini Metro is real-time, and Metro Maneuver is a calm daily puzzle with one map and one best answer, like a crossword for subway maps.
What does it keep about me?
Your progress stays in your browser. To count plays and scores, the game sends an anonymous random id with each play and submission: no name, no email, no cookies.
